The Doldrums is already in the wake of Groupama 3: Franck Cammas and his men have reached the Azores High and are racking up the miles along its southern edge… The speeds will further increase over the coming hours prior to the next obstacle: a ridge of high pressure scheduled for Tuesday.

Nouveau PRB


Mission accomplie pour l’équipe PRB qui a mis à l’eau aujourd’hui le premier monocoque IMOCA dernière génération. Malgré le froid piquant, une grosse centaine de spectateurs s’est déplacée pour découvrir les lignes de ce nouveau plan VPLP – Verdier.

Groupama 3: Atlantic Roll


The current phase offshore of the Brazilian coast isn’t the easiest section on this round the world, with a mass of storm squalls making it difficult to anticipate the trajectory. Navigator Stan Honey, in collaboration with the onshore router Sylvain Mondon, is constantly having to adapt Groupama 3’s course in order to extract her from this zone and finally make it through to the tradewinds to the North of the 22° parallel…

The 25th China Sea Race starts at 1210hrs Thursday 01 April 2010


With the start of the Rolex China Sea Race just three weeks away, a competitive fleet is lining up for this 565-nautical mile Asian offshore classic. To date, 29 boats are registered, with several more anticipated to enter the race, which starts on Thursday, April 1 in Hong Kong and finishes in Subic Bay, northwest of Manila, the Philippines.

Clipper Round the World: The Pacific starts to bite


With the first 1,000 miles of the race to California almost completed, the forecasted low pressure system has finally arrived and the skippers who were cursing the lack of wind yesterday now find themselves with more than they bargained for. Strong headwinds have been hard going on the teams and they will all be looking forward to the wind shifting round and a return to the fast downwind sailing the Clipper 68s relish.

Groupama 3: A hellish tack


On a perfectly rectilinear course since rounding Cape Horn, Groupama 3 is continuing her ascent of the Southern Atlantic by cleverly limiting the haemorrhage of miles lost in relation to the Jules Verne Trophy champion. Furthermore, they are in no way losing sight of the fact that they will have to battle all the way to the end and that they must remain in great shape to do so.
